Our guides' favorite ride! Old Fall River Road is a 9 mile dirt road, open to vehicles one-way, uphill during the summer. Between the opening of Trail Ridge Road around Memorial Day and the opening of Old Fall River Road to traffic around July 4, we are able to ride bicycles on this historic road, built between 1913-1920.

We travel by van from Estes Park, climbing Trail Ridge Road to begin the bike ride at the Alpine Visitor Center in Rocky Mountain National Park, the highest elevation visitor center in the National Park System.

From the Alpine Visitor Center, we descend Old Fall River Road, which ends at the Endovalley Picnic area. This is a beautiful dirt road with waterfalls and wildlife. It is likely that there will be snow just off of the road; a very exciting tour!

When we reach the end of Old Fall River Road, we pause for a snack along Endovalley Road and then resume the ride and head out of Rocky Mountain National Park through the Fall River Entrance, heading through downtown Estes Park, around Lake Estes and back to the New Venture Headquarters.

June can be wet and Old Fall River Road is dirt surface, which can create muddy patches. This ride may require a bit more advanced bicycling skills because of the dirt road surface and a steeper grade. Riders may also get a little dirty on this one!
